Does this sound like you?

If you’re nodding, you’re in the right place.
Not sure? Here’s more about who Precision Paddling best serves.

ABOUT THE OC1 PRECISION PADDLING TECHNIQUE PROGRAM

Precision Paddling focuses on OC1 technique training as the foundation for speed, power, strength and stability so that you can get faster and paddle injury-free with confidence.

Improving your paddling is not just about logging miles or hammering out intervals. If that were the case then doing more would equal winning.

Professional athletes spend time working on posture, movement and muscle activation because they know that a strong technical foundation is key to being fast, and staying injury-free.

Training this way is not limited to the pros, it’s available to everyday athletes just like you!

Accessible from wherever you paddle, you’ll learn how to work on your technique through exclusive new videos, on-the-water homework, and virtual group coaching calls with a community of women paddlers.

I have coached many paddlers who are training without a system to improve their technique.

Their skill set and speed are plateauing because they have done all they know how to do.

So, they train harder, longer, or more frequently, or just accept where they are at.

Many paddlers are left wondering what they are missing and what they need to do to see different results.

  • You want structure that leads to noticeable changes in your technique, not just understanding ideas or well-meaning explanations.
  • You have limited time to paddle your OC1 but you do set aside focused time each week to paddle.
  • You have access to flat water and want to commit time each week to being technical and developing your movement awareness.
  • You want to stop just “going for a paddle” or doing the same lousy reps and intervals over and over again.
  • You are willing to change your approach and you can make room to do things differently.
  • You want the support of a coach to discuss, troubleshoot, and problem-solve your progression with you.
  • You want to discuss paddling and share your celebrations and challenges with other paddlers who are focused on growth.
  • Focusing on clocking up mileage and hammering out intervals.
  • Just “going for a paddle” without a plan or specific focus.
  • Chasing after the pack during group training,  developing bad habits while trying to keep up.
  • Skipping warm ups, not training technique and ignoring niggling injuries that become chronic.
  • “Working on the catch” without a method to make a meaningful or lasting change.
  • “Working on technique” by thinking about technique, instead of specific technique repetitions that provide a reference point for change.
  • Experiencing a breakdown in their technique with fatigue.

Many paddlers are left wondering what they are missing and what they need to be doing to see different results.

“I learned more techniques and increased my focus on sitting straight, keeping knees centered (big one), and heel drive using the weight lifting analogies.”
– Precision Paddle Participant, Summer 2023

“I really appreciate your ability to articulate and connect the mechanics of the stroke to muscle groups and drills. I also appreciate your emphasis on the importance of consistency with training, on and off the water.”
– Precision Paddle Participant, Autumn 2023

The Precision Paddling Program is designed to provide you with:

  • A reliable technique training system and a method to work on your catch.
  • Improved alignment and more stability so you can stop leaning on your ama like a crutch.
  • Reduced shoulder and hip pain from paddling.
  • Stability and power in the right alignment.
  • Use your whole body, especially your legs.
  • A full catch on the right side.
  • Stop collapsing on the left side.
  • Get off your ama and improve your posture.

“Because of Precision Paddling, I am happy to report that I’m no longer getting the right forearm pain.” – Precision Paddle Participant, Summer 2023

What can you expect to gain from this program?

  • The habits and mindset to effectively work on your technique like a pro
  • A high-level understanding of OC1 fundamental movements
  • Increased self awareness while paddling
  • Confidence that you are progressing and training yourself into longevity
  • Enjoyment from being a lifelong student of the sport

Instead of grasping for an understanding of the OC1 paddling stroke, you will feel what strong active posture is, know what powerful paddling feels like, and develop deeper self awareness of yourself as a paddling athlete.

Instead of only training harder to try and get results, you will take a different approach. You’ll become a student of the sport and apply what you are learning in a structured and mentored environment.

Here's what Precision Paddling participants experienceD.

  • 100% Found the information easy to understand and relevant.
  • 100% Were able to apply the program to their ongoing training.
  • 100% Felt noticeable changes to how they moved and practiced the OC1.
  • 96% Improved their technique.
  • 91% Addressed a source of pain and discomfort or overcame a barrier.
  • 91% Developed a plan for reaching their paddling goals.

How is this program different?

My approach is centered on empowerment, not only instruction. I don’t just tell you what to do, I show you how to do it and feel it for yourself. I aim to help you develop the habits and practices that are foundational to being a paddling athlete.

My approach is detail oriented (hence the name Precision Paddling) because I have found that most people need to develop their self awareness to make many small but very specific changes to how they are paddling.

Everything I teach is what I continue to do on a weekly basis. I’m not just a coach, I’m an athlete, and I’ve been where you are now. I understand the challenges and frustrations of paddling, and I know what it takes to succeed and I want to share that with you.

  • I discovered that it didn’t matter what I told people about how to improve their paddling.
  • I also discovered that if people could not feel a change in their body they had a hard time making lasting changes to the way they paddle.
  • They needed to have actionable ways to feel connected and powerful while paddling.
  • I also know that if you can’t make changes in flat water it will never happen in more challenging conditions.

Not only do I provide a structure with the opportunity to get support, feedback, and encouragement, I focus on information that is relevant to women paddling athletes.

And what’s more, Precision Paddling is more than just technique training. We’re building a  community of women who share a passion and determination to grow as paddlers.

What is the program structure and schedule?

  • 10 weeks
  • 33 video lessons
  • 5 weekly progressive paddling sessions
  • 3 live group coaching calls lasting 90 minutes
  • Weekly coaching and mentoring online via the community forum

“The fact that Anna actually completes and video’s each workout herself giving the visuals to follow is a big take home.”
– Precision Paddling Participant, Summer 2023

“Thank you for making it so easy for us to get the info via the video and coaching calls.”
– Precision Paddling Participant, Summer 2023

This program requires you to learn my technique training system, apply the system by doing the on-the-water sessions provided, seek coaching through the online platform and the live video group coaching calls, which will also address the specific issues that come up for you and the other paddlers in the group.

Specifically you will:

  • Receive weekly video lessons to learn about technique and see the training system in action.
  • Be given five detailed technique training sessions that put it all together on the water for you.
  • Be asked specific questions to engage you in your learning process and provide the coach (Anna) with the opportunity to problem solve your trouble spots, share insights, and celebrate your progression with you.
  • Be invited to join the group coaching calls* to get individualized coaching and personal mentoring and padding and training tips from Anna.

*If you cannot join the calls live, they will be recorded and you will be able to submit your questions ahead of time.

  • This is not a theoretical course – this is an experiential course –  you are learning through trying, practicing and sharing your experience.
  • This is not a passive learning environment – you need to train on your oc1 at least once a week and interact online with the other paddlers and the coach.
  • This is not a comprehensive or periodized training program, it is however a great complement to your current team or OC1 training.
  • This is not a learn to paddle course – it’s best if you have some experience.
  • This is not an ocean safety course – make sure you are capable and safe paddling and training on an OC1.

This is a structured program that will engage your mind and body and develop your technique and adopt habits that will help you become a more well rounded OC1 athlete.

Requirements

  • You’ll need  access to flat water and time for one focused paddling session a week of 60-90 minutes.
  • You’re responsible for implementing the program I provide for you, but you’ll learn from and with the group how to refine your OC1 technique training to get the most out of it.
  • You’ll want to participate in the weekly discussions online and attend the live coaching calls, these are where a lot of specific learning will take place.
  • You will need access to the platform via a laptop, desktop or smartphone (the course comes with a downloadable app).

This course is suited for all levels of OC1 paddlers* and is especially for those who are training without coaching, are coaching others, are following a training plan but it doesn’t address technique in a meaningful way or haven’t  improved for a while.

*This course is not for first-time paddlers and it is not a learn to paddle course. Participants will need to have some OC1 experience before joining this program.
